"I never wanted to feel dependent on anyone again. So I got to work — every morning, every evening, until the strength came back."

The Original Gym isn’t just a place to work out. It’s a standard.
Built for those who take their training seriously, The OG is where discipline meets intensity. Whether you're stepping into the gym for the first time or preparing for competition, this is a space designed to push you further.
We’re proudly USMC veteran-owned and built on grit, accountability, and results. No fluff. No distractions. Just real work.
On April 8, 2012, a devastating crash in Daytona Beach nearly took everything. Seven days in a coma. Two brain surgeries. More than six months in a polytrauma unit. The doctors, nurses, therapists, and medical staff who fought alongside were real-life superheroes.
Before the accident, athletics defined life — gymnastics, track, cross-country, basketball, soccer. The body had always been an instrument of competition. Suddenly, it had to be rebuilt from scratch.
Rehabilitation was anything but easy. Walking again. Feeding again. Essentially learning how to live again. But determination is a powerful thing. Every morning and every evening, a new routine began — not for a trophy, but for independence.
"I never wanted to feel dependent on anyone again."
Over time, strength returned. After months of relentless effort, hospital discharge became reality. What followed was unexpected: a gym, a question, and a whole new chapter.
At the gym one day, the owner walked over and asked: "Do you compete?" The answer was no — but not for long. After learning about competitive bodybuilding, the competitive nature that had always lived inside took over completely.
In 2013, the first OCB Figure competition ended with a win in both class and the Overall title. That victory lit a fire. The OCB and NANBF followed, then the NPC — and the pursuit kept climbing.
Early NPC Figure days brought time with IFBB Pro Tony West, whose coaching in posing and training methodology left a lasting mark. Under her guidance, fourth place at the Pittsburgh Pro in 2014 wasn't just a result — it was fuel.
In 2015, a training camp hosted by Dana Linn Bailey — the first Women's Physique Olympia champion — reignited the fire to compete at a higher level, delivering the finer details and dynamics of elite training. Later, time with Kai Greene provided something rare: a mindset shift. His knowledge and passion for the sport are second to none.
Then came Iron Factory Gym and IFBB Pro Dave Gratta — someone who saw potential that wasn't yet visible to anyone else. Dave pushed beyond every limit. The training was hard. The community was family. The experience was everything.
On March 17, 2025, The Original Gym opened its doors in Columbia, South Carolina. Built from memories, values, and hard-won experience — a place where others could pursue their own goals and become part of something greater than themselves.
Then, on August 30, 2025, at the NPC North American Championships, the class win came — along with an IFBB Pro Card.
"It has been an incredible journey filled with challenges, setbacks, victories, and blessings. None of it would have been possible without God's grace."
To every person who helped, who encouraged, who believed when doubt crept in — this is for you. You know who you are.
This is only the beginning.

Best gym in Columbia hands down. I’ve been working out for years now and have had memberships in many gyms moving from different states, and this one takes the cake. Top of the line equipment. Never crowded. Great place to meet people with similar goals who can lend solid advice.
The owner of the gym made me feel so comfortable and welcome! They have the best equipment in town! I was so excited to find this gem of a gym!! I loveddd the art work all over the gym!
